About
Morgan Creek Capital Management is a SEC-registered investment adviser headquartered in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with an additional office in Shanghai. Founded in July 2004 by Mark W. Yusko, former Chief Investment Officer of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Endowment, the firm provides sophisticated investment management services to institutional and qualifying clients, including endowments, pension plans, foundations, and family offices. The firm is not a CPG supplier or manufacturer and operates exclusively within the financial services and investment management sector. Morgan Creek delivers customized investment solutions built around the University Endowment Model, a strategy characterized by a disciplined focus on asset allocation as the primary driver of return, a value orientation, an appreciation for the liquidity premium, and an opportunistic, forward-thinking approach to portfolio construction. Core service offerings include asset allocation, manager selection, and portfolio construction, all executed with an active investment philosophy rather than a passive capital allocation approach. The investment team is globally distributed, enabling proximity to the managers and markets in which the firm invests. Many senior team members bring 20 or more years of experience across endowment management, investment banking, management consulting, institutional investment management, and regulatory affairs. Nearly a quarter of the investment team has direct endowment backgrounds from leading institutions such as Notre Dame, UNC, Duke, Stanford, the Ewing Kauffman Foundation, and Vulcan Capital. The firm's competitive differentiators include fiduciary experience managing institutional assets, deep knowledge in alternative investments, access to a top-tier global manager network, and an internationally present investment team. Morgan Creek also hosts the HedgeD podcast, featuring market insights from senior leadership. The firm operates a charitable arm, the Morgan Creek Foundation, and leadership includes involvement in the Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars Foundation at the University of Notre Dame.
