We believe that malt captures and defines the attitude of every craft beer and spirit, and at Murphy & Rude Malting Co., we feel our name captures ours. Named for our ol’ dog Murphy (representing time-honored malting processes and traditions) and our young pup Rudy, aka Rude (representing innovation and adventurous creativity), our brand personality - and malt production processes - combine these traditional methods and approaches with creative experimentation and innovative techniques to create radical malts for revolutionary products.

Our focus is this:
Obsess over the attributes of flavor, color, and aroma-influencing specialty malts and then produce them from a variety of small grains grown within the Mid-Atlantic grainshed. By applying a wide range of germination, kilning, stewing, and drum roasting applications, we deliver malt with personality and attitude.
